MEMENTO MORI / REMEMBER DEATH

The hourglass signet ring. Life , death, and time equally demonstrated, showing the unavoidable bond between them, or more accurately that they were all a part of the same whole. 

We are alive until we are dead and it is only a passage of time between the two states. Memento mori reminds us to live, to let things go and to remember our time here is limited and the end is inevitable.

On the inside of this ring “Tempus Fugit” is engraved, latin for “time flies”.

On one face of this signet ring is life, along each side is an hourglass, turning the hourglass reveals the alternate face of this signet ring, death.

Around the edges the words “memento mori” on one face and “remember death” on the other.

This ring makes a bold feature ring, it has weight and carries presence, but thanks to the ergonomic shape of the hourglass it is also comfortable. I find myself turning the ring over based on my feelings towards the day and find it incredibly versatile.

Handmade in solid silver and gold these rings weigh between 34-37g of solid metal making a fantastic investment or heirloom piece.
