Materials, Makers & Provenance
Philologa is a small independent studio. Our work combines original design, specialist collaboration, Australian casting and production partners, carefully sourced components, and bench work completed in the Philologa studio.
We believe the clearest way to describe a piece is to say who contributed to it, where its materials came from when that information is known, and which parts of the process were completed outside our studio.
Design & creative collaborators
Philologa Studio
Creative direction, original jewellery design where stated, bench finishing, assembly, quality control and final preparation are carried out by Philologa.
Helen Chinita — Illustration
Helen collaborates with Philologa on illustration work, including the koi artwork used across the Tao Koi apparel pieces.
Afshin, Diego & Mersa — CAD collaborators
Independent CAD specialists assist with translating concepts and artwork into production-ready digital models where required. Their involvement varies by piece. We distinguish original Philologa designs from Atelier pieces that may begin with an externally sourced or existing design foundation.
Metals & casting
Palloys — Australia
Our principal source for precious metals and jewellery casting. Casting used for Philologa jewellery is undertaken in Australia through Palloys.
Gemstones & components
Koodak
Supplier of our chains and selected lab-created or synthetic stones.
Elle Jewelin — Jaipur, India
Supplier of selected natural gemstones. Our opals are commonly sourced through Elle Jewelin and are typically Ethiopian in origin where specified for the individual piece.
Apparel
AS Colour
Supplier of the garment blanks used for the current Philologa apparel run.
Ethical Tees — Australia
Printing and embroidery production partner used for the current apparel run. The Tao Koi artwork was designed for Philologa and the printing, embroidery and final garment production for this run were completed in Australia.
Traceability
We identify our material and production partners wherever practical and disclose known country of origin when that information is available to us. Not every component can be traced to mine, mill or factory level, so we do not describe an item as fully traceable unless we can substantiate that claim.
Individual product pages remain the source of truth for the materials, production method and design authorship of a particular piece. If you would like more detail about the provenance of an item before ordering, contact the studio.
